On Tuesday, 1 January 2013, in the evening at 17:04, in Vilnius, on Laisvės pr., at the junction with Pilaitės pr., an Audi A4 hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. Two people were injured — a 47-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient) and a 67-year-old pedestrian (a citizen of Italy) (severely injured, hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 28-year-old driver of the Audi (9 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. She was drunk (2.31‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
