On Wednesday, 16 January 2013, at night at 23:06, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Jurbarkas–Šilutė–Klaipėda national road (kilometre 22.85), a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Vento and an Audi 80. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 53-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He was drunk (2.92‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
