On Sunday, 20 January 2013, in the evening at around 18:00, in Neringos municipality, on the Smiltynė–Nida national road (kilometre 46), a Nissan Murano registered in Russia hit an animal. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 24-year-old driver of the Nissan (a citizen of Russia) (4 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed.
