On Thursday, 24 January 2013, in the evening at 20:10, in Prienų district municipality, Mauručių village, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 24.57), a Renault Premium 380 registered in Belarus hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 38-year-old driver of the Renault (a citizen of Belarus) (17 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 80 km/h.
