On Wednesday, 30 January 2013, in the evening at around 19:00, in Prienų district municipality, on the Vilnius–Prienai–Marijampolė main road (kilometre 103.50), a BMW 320 ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 30-year-old driver of the BMW (4 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, there was freezing rain, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
