On Thursday, 31 January 2013, at night at around 3:00, in Druskininkų municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 113.97), a DAF XF 95.430 registered in Poland ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 58-year-old driver of the DAF (a citizen of Belarus) (29 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, there was freezing rain, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
