On Thursday, 31 January 2013, in the morning at 8:30, in Kazlų Rūdos municipality, on the Mauručiai–Vinčai–Puskelniai national road (kilometre 20.50), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Hyundai Santa FE and a Honda Civic. Two people were injured — a 40-year-old passenger of the Honda (treated as an outpatient) and a 62-year-old passenger of the Honda (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a seatbelt). The accident was caused by the 41-year-old driver of the Hyundai (21 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance and failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
