On Saturday, 29 September 2012, in the evening at around 20:00, in Širvintų district municipality, Vileikiškių village, on Smalių street, an Audi A4 Avant hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 10-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the Audi, who failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
