On Wednesday, 13 February 2013, at night at 2:10, in Alytaus district municipality, on the Alytus–Simnas–Kalvarija national road (kilometre 23), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a vehicle, a Volvo FM registered in Belarus and a Schmidt. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by an unidentified person, who committed other traffic rule violations. He fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, a strong wind was blowing, the road surface was icy. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
