On Tuesday, 19 February 2013, in the afternoon at around 14:00, in Druskininkų municipality, on Veisiejų street, at the junction with Gardino street, a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Land Rover Discovery and an Opel Vectra. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 42-year-old driver of the Land Rover (25 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He was drunk (2.53‰ blood alcohol). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was snowing, the road surface was snow-covered.
