On Thursday, 7 March 2013, in the evening at 17:30, in Tauragės district municipality, Vaitimėnų village, on the Mažonai–Šakvietis–Šilalė regional road (kilometre 19), an Audi 100 Avant ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 28-year-old driver of the Audi (9 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.97‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
