On Saturday, 23 March 2013, in the morning at 9:15, in Šilutės district municipality, on V. Kudirkos street, at the junction with Taikos street, a Suzuki SX 4 hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. Two people were injured — a 66-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient) and a 75-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 51-year-old driver of the Suzuki (5 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
