On Monday, 8 April 2013, at night at 0:30, in Kaunas, on Žemaičių pl., at the junction with Šarkuvos street, a BMW 320D hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 28-year-old driver of the BMW (1 year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
