On Saturday, 13 April 2013, in the afternoon at 15:30, in Marijampolės municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 60.30), a collision with a stationary vehicle occurred. The collision involved a DAF FT XF105.460 registered in Latvia, an Audi A6 Avant and a Krone SD registered in Latvia. Two people were injured — a 71-year-old passenger of the Audi (hospitalized) and the 39-year-old driver of the Audi (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 50-year-old driver of the DAF (a citizen of Latvia) (27 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
