On Saturday, 11 May 2013, in the evening at 19:14, in Šiaulių district municipality, Meškių village, on the Ryga–Šiauliai–Tauragė–Kaliningradas (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta k. pusė) main road (kilometre 65.15), a collision with a bicycle occurred. The collision involved a Rieju MRX registered in Sweden and a bicycle. Two people were injured — the 19-year-old driver of the Rieju (hospitalized) and a 49-year-old cyclist (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Rieju, who committed other traffic rule violations. He was drunk (0.55‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. A 49-year-old cyclist was drunk (2.23‰). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
