On Sunday, 28 April 2013, in the evening at around 22:00, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Jurbarkas–Šilutė–Klaipėda national road (kilometre 8.50), a Fiat Croma hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 32-year-old driver of the Fiat (13 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
