On Monday, 20 May 2013, in the morning at 6:50, in Vilkaviškio district municipality, Smalinyčios village, on the Vilkaviškis–Suvalkai–Gižai regional road (kilometre 12.30), an Audi A4 Avant ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the Audi (16 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.43‰ blood alcohol). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
