On Wednesday, 29 May 2013, in the afternoon at around 16:00, in Kauno city municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 101), a falling cargo occurred. The accident involved a trailer, a Mitsubishi Canter and a BMW 525. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 54-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi (32 years of driving experience), who violated cargo-transport rules. He fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 80 km/h.
