On Saturday, 1 June 2013, in the evening at 20:37, in Mažeikių district municipality, Linksnakių village, on Zastaučių street near No. 10, in a yard, an Audi 80 hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 39-year-old pedestrian. The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the Audi, who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.74‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
