On Tuesday, 28 May 2013, in the evening at around 17:00, in Šilutės district municipality, on Dariaus ir Girėno street near No. 30, a vehicle hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 14-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 18-year-old driver of a vehicle, who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He had no driving licence. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
