On Monday, 10 June 2013, in the afternoon at 15:28, in Kupiškio district municipality, on the Salamiestis–Alizava–Kupreliškis–Galintiškis regional road (kilometre 9.05), a Volkswagen Caddy hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person was injured — a 83-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 52-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (22 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
