On Saturday, 15 June 2013, in the evening at around 22:00, in Lazdijų district municipality, Papalazdijų I village, on the Lazdijai–Kučiūnai–Veisiejai regional road (kilometre 1.60), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a horse-drawn cart and a Volkswagen Passat. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by a 25-year-old cart driver, who failed to give way when changing direction. He was drunk (4.66‰ blood alcohol). At the time of the accident it was twilight, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
