On Friday, 21 June 2013, in the evening at around 18:00, in Šilutės district municipality, on the Priekulė–Sakūčiai–Ventė regional road (kilometre 20.75), a Ford Fiesta ran off the road. Three people were injured — a 20-year-old passenger of the Ford (hospitalized, was not wearing a seatbelt), a 19-year-old passenger of the Ford (hospitalized, was not wearing a seatbelt) and a 14-year-old passenger of the Ford (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Ford (1 year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
