On Wednesday, 26 June 2013, in the afternoon at 12:46, in Marijampolės municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 65.33), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved an Audi 80 and a Fiat Ulysse. Two people died — the 36-year-old driver of the Audi and the 43-year-old driver of the Fiat. One person was injured — a 49-year-old passenger of the Fiat (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 36-year-old driver of the Audi (15 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry.
