On Friday, 12 July 2013, in the afternoon at 16:40, in Panevėžio district municipality, on the Sidabravas–Birželės–Naujamiestis regional road (kilometre 10), a Volkswagen Golf Plus registered in Great Britain ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (5 years of driving experience), who was driving fatigued and failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
