On Sunday, 7 July 2013, in the evening at 22:55, in Kauno district municipality, on the Kaunas–Jurbarkas–Šilutė–Klaipėda national road (kilometre 41), a Ford Mondeo hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 21-year-old driver of the Ford, who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to choose a safe speed. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
