On Saturday, 13 July 2013, in the evening at 17:27, in Alytaus district municipality, on the Trakai–Rūdiškės–Pivašiūnai–Alytus national road (kilometre 59.01), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Mazda 323 and a Volkswagen Passat. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 60-year-old driver of the Mazda (40 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. He was drunk (2.14‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene.
