On Thursday, 11 July 2013, in the morning at 6:46, in Elektrėnų municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 39), a Ford Transit FT 100 registered in Russia ran off the road. The accident was caused by the 54-year-old driver of the Ford (a citizen of Russia) (31 years of driving experience), who was driving fatigued and failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 100 km/h.
