On Sunday, 21 July 2013, in the afternoon at 15:34, in Vilkaviškio district municipality, Stirniškių village, on the Vilkaviškis–Suvalkai–Gižai regional road (kilometre 7.30), a Peugeot Speedfight ran off the road. Two people were injured — the 20-year-old driver of the Peugeot (severely injured, hospitalized) and a 20-year-old passenger of the Peugeot (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the Peugeot (less than a year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
