On Wednesday, 24 July 2013, in the evening at 22:57, in Zarasų district municipality, on Vytauto street near No. 28, a Renault Espace hit an obstacle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 37-year-old driver of the Renault (23 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (2.52‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was twilight, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
