On Saturday, 3 August 2013, in the afternoon at 16:36, in Rietavo municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 261.50), a Scania R 124 LA hit an obstacle. Four people were injured — a 9-year-old passenger of a Land Rover Freelander (a citizen of Poland) (treated as an outpatient), the 34-year-old driver of the Land Rover (a citizen of Poland) (treated as an outpatient), a 19-year-old passenger of the Land Rover (a citizen of Poland) (treated as an outpatient) and a 12-year-old passenger of the Land Rover (a citizen of Poland) (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 42-year-old driver of the Scania (15 years of driving experience), who committed other traffic rule violations. Both drivers were sober. The Scania had recorded faults (ratų). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
