On Wednesday, 7 August 2013, in the evening at 17:10, in Klaipėdos district municipality, Rudgalvių village, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 274.55), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved an Opel Vivaro and a Mercedes-Benz Daimler Benz. One person died — a 25-year-old passenger of the Opel (was not wearing a seatbelt). Four people were injured — the 57-year-old driver of the Opel (treated as an outpatient), a 47-year-old passenger of the Opel (treated as an outpatient), a 38-year-old passenger of the Opel (treated as an outpatient) and a passenger of the Opel (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 57-year-old driver of the Opel (20 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 130 km/h.
