On Wednesday, 7 August 2013, in the evening at 19:15, in Alytaus district municipality, on the Alytus–Simnas–Kalvarija national road (kilometre 6), a Volvo FH12 registered in Poland rolled over. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 63-year-old driver of the Volvo (a citizen of Poland) (47 years of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
