On Friday, 9 August 2013, in the morning at 8:41, in Kazlų Rūdos municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 41.50), a head-on collision occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Golf, a Volkswagen Passat, a Mercedes-Benz Actros 1841 and a Koegel SN 24. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 52-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Golf (a citizen of Germany) (37 years of driving experience), who entered the oncoming traffic lane. All drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
