On Sunday, 11 August 2013, in the morning at 9:23, in Plungės district municipality, on the Šiauliai–Palanga main road (kilometre 84.04), a Mercedes-Benz 413 hit an obstacle. Two people were injured — a 34-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (treated as an outpatient) and a 67-year-old passenger of the Mercedes-Benz (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 70-year-old driver of the Mercedes-Benz (33 years of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules, failed to keep a safe distance and failed to choose a safe speed. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
