On Thursday, 29 August 2013, in the evening at 17:45, in Kazlų Rūdos municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 44.10), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volvo V70 and a Volvo XC70 registered in Poland. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 20-year-old driver of the Volvo V70 (1 year of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
