On Saturday, 14 September 2013, in the evening at 19:40, in Šilutės district municipality, on the Kaunas–Jurbarkas–Šilutė–Klaipėda national road (kilometre 164), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Peugeot 306 and a Renault Laguna. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 25-year-old driver of the Peugeot, who violated overtaking rules. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 70 km/h.
