On Saturday, 14 September 2013, in the evening at 22:34, in Palanga, on Kretingos street, at the junction with Vytauto street, an Opel Astra ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 30-year-old driver of the Opel, who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (3.42‰ blood alcohol) and had no driving licence. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
