On Saturday, 14 September 2013, in the evening at 21:10, in Širvintų district municipality, on the Širvintos–Rimučiai–Kernavė–Dūkštos national road (kilometre 5.12), a Daihatsu Charade rolled over. Three people were injured — the 19-year-old driver of the Daihatsu (treated as an outpatient), a 20-year-old passenger of the Daihatsu (hospitalized) and a 21-year-old passenger of the Daihatsu (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Daihatsu, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk and had no driving licence. A 18-year-old passenger of the Daihatsu was drunk (1.21‰). According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
