On Friday, 4 October 2013, in the morning at 8:07, in Jonavos district municipality, on the Kaunas–Zarasai–Daugpilis (kelio ruožo su skir. juosta k. pusė) main road (kilometre 19.31), an Opel Vectra hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. One person died — a 9-year-old pedestrian. The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the Opel (2 years of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed and fell asleep at the wheel. He was under the influence of psychoactive substances. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
