On Sunday, 13 October 2013, in the afternoon at 15:53, in Varėnos district municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 87.38), a collision with a moped occurred. The collision involved an AWE and an Opel Astra. Two people were injured — the 19-year-old driver of the AWE (treated as an outpatient, was not wearing a helmet) and a 15-year-old passenger of the AWE (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the AWE, who committed other traffic rule violations and failed to give way when changing direction. She had no driving licence. Both drivers were sober. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA). At the time of the accident the weather was clear, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
