On Friday, 1 November 2013, in the evening at around 21:00, in Joniškio district municipality, on the Ryga–Šiauliai–Tauragė–Kaliningradas main road, a collision while turning left (U-turning) occurred. The collision involved an Audi 80 and an Audi 80 Avant. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 16-year-old driver of the Audi 80, who failed to give way when crossing an intersection. He had no driving licence and fled the scene. Both drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
