On Monday, 11 November 2013, in the morning at 6:24, in Kazlų Rūdos municipality, on the Kaunas–Marijampolė–Suvalkai main road (kilometre 40.33), a head-on collision while overtaking occurred. The collision involved a DAF FT XF95, a Koegel, a Mercedes-Benz 1841, a Schmitz and a Peugeot 206. One person was injured — the 24-year-old driver of the Peugeot (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the DAF (a citizen of Poland) (1 year of driving experience), who violated overtaking rules. All drivers were sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was dry. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
