On Wednesday, 13 November 2013, in the afternoon at 16:15, in Varėnos district municipality, on the Vilnius–Varėna–Gardinas main road (kilometre 100.25), a falling cargo occurred. The accident involved a Volkswagen Passat registered in Belarus and a vehicle. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by an unidentified person, who violated cargo-transport rules. He fled the scene. According to the register, the at-fault driver's vehicle had no compulsory civil-liability insurance (TPVCA).
