On Saturday, 16 November 2013, in the morning at 6:30, in Alytaus district municipality, on the Alytus–Seirijai–Lazdijai national road (kilometre 16.45), a side collision with neither vehicle turning occurred. The collision involved an Audi A6 Avant and an Audi 80. Three people were injured — the 47-year-old driver of the Audi 80 (treated as an outpatient), a 44-year-old passenger of the Audi 80 (hospitalized) and a 50-year-old passenger of the Audi 80 (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 19-year-old driver of the Audi A6 Avant (1 year of driving experience), who failed to give way when changing direction. He was drunk (1.99‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, it was raining, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
