On Wednesday, 20 November 2013, in the afternoon at 16:28, in Vilnius, on Šilo street, at the junction with Antakalnio street, a BMW 525 hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. Two people were injured — a 70-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized) and a 68-year-old pedestrian (hospitalized). The accident was caused by the 21-year-old driver of the BMW (1 year of driving experience), who failed to choose a safe speed. The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was lit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
