On Wednesday, 27 November 2013, in the evening at around 17:00, in Šiauliai, on Aušros al., at the junction with Varpo street, a Volkswagen Golf hit a pedestrian at a pedestrian crossing. One person was injured — a 57-year-old pedestrian (treated as an outpatient). The accident was caused by the 26-year-old driver of the Volkswagen (8 years of driving experience), who failed to fulfil pedestrian duties. He fled the scene. The driver was sober.
