On Sunday, 8 December 2013, in the evening at 17:45, in Anykščių district municipality, Čekonių village, on the Čekonys–Debeikiai–Žalioji regional road (kilometre 1.10), a Mitsubishi L 200 hit a pedestrian away from any crossing. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by a 63-year-old pedestrian, who was crossing the carriageway outside a crossing where there are vehicle or pedestrian barriers, was walking at night without reflectors (light, hi-vis vest) and was walking on the carriageway where prohibited. He was drunk (1.34‰ blood alcohol). The driver was sober. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was snow-covered. The speed limit on this section is 50 km/h.
