On Sunday, 15 December 2013, in the afternoon at 16:16, in Elektrėnų municipality, on the Vilnius–Kaunas–Klaipėda (d. pusė) main road (kilometre 39), a collision while moving in the same direction occurred. The collision involved a Volkswagen Passat and a Volkswagen GTI. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 40-year-old driver of the Volkswagen Passat (20 years of driving experience), who failed to keep a safe distance. He was drunk (2.22‰ blood alcohol) and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 100 km/h.
