On Tuesday, 17 December 2013, at night at 1:10, in Jurbarko district municipality, Girdžių village, on the Jurbarkas–Butkaičiai–Paviščionys regional road (kilometre 12.15), an Opel Vectra ran off the road. No one was hurt in the accident. The accident was caused by the 22-year-old driver of the Opel, who failed to choose a safe speed. He was drunk (1.97‰ blood alcohol), had no driving licence and fled the scene. At the time of the accident it was dark, the road was unlit, it was overcast, the road surface was wet. The speed limit on this section is 90 km/h.
